DANVILLE — As Balloons Over Vermilion and Festival of Trees officials look forward to another great year of colorful hot-air balloons flying over Vermilion County this summer and beautifully decorated trees and wreaths in the holiday season, they want to celebrate what was accomplished last year and thank everyone for their support.
The announcement of the annual Community Impact Awards recipients will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fischer Theatre in downtown Danville.
Organizers say 23 organizations and groups committed to the health and success of area youth and young families throughout Vermilion County will be awarded.
After eight years of bringing balloons back to Vermilion County and after four years of hosting the Festival of Trees, the group has granted more than $500,000 in Community Impact Awards.
The 2024 Student Ambassadors from Oakwood Grade School also will be acknowledged, and the new school class for 2025 will be announced.
Balloons Over Vermilion and the Festival of Trees are family-centered events, and they do it all for the kids, said Pat O’Shaughnessy and Jim Anderson, with Balloons Over Vermilion.
