THE FOLLOWING IS FROM STATE SENATOR CHAPIN ROSE’S OFFICE
Springfield, IL– State Senator Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) issued the following statement after the Energy Committee advanced a bill this morning to help protect the Mahomet Aquifer:
“I’m pleased to see the bill to ban CO2 storage under the Mahomet Aquifer finally pass out of committee this morning. I’m grateful to the countless central Illinoisans who have called, written, and emailed in support of this important bill, it wouldn’t have happened without their voices.
“Senator Faraci has done great work on this, and I am honored to be his Chief Co-Sponsor on this bipartisan bill. But the fight isn’t over. It still needs to pass the Senate, House, and be signed by Governor J.B Pritzker who, I would point out, is the same governor who put us in this position by cutting a backroom deal with his billionaire buddies to leave the Mahomet Aquifer unprotected.
“Clean water is not negotiable, so keep the pressure on because we’re not done yet.”
