A Danville teenager was listed in critical condition Sunday afternoon (March 23, 2025) after being shot on Saturday. Danville Police Deputy Chief Terry McCord says a juvenile suspect was taken into custody within two hours of the shooting. He says officers located a 15-year-old in the roadway in the 1200 block of East Williams Street around 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The victim appeared to have more than one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition.
Deputy Chief McCord says the suspect was arrested southeast of Poolside Drive in a field. He says the young suspect ran from officers but was arrested after a foot pursuit. Vermilion County Sheriff’s Police assisted Danville Police in making the arrest.
The Danville Police Department is thanking those in the community who saw something and said something. Much information was gathered from those who had information about the incident. And McCord added it was through intelligence gathered and diligent investigation that police were able to take a suspect into custody.
The investigation is ongoing and no other information is being released at this time. Danville Police remind the public that all suspects who are arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
