THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville Police Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Tuesday evening, 3/25/25, at about 11:30 p.m. around Cleveland St. and Griffin St. An officer witnessed the vehicle commit several moving violations. When the officer turned on the squad car’s emergency lights, the suspect vehicle fled and refused to pull over.
Officers eventually chased a subject on foot from the vehicle in the area of Victory St. and Cleveland St. and placed him into custody. During the investigation and arrest, officers located a loaded firearm and illegal drugs. The arrestee was identified as 26-year-old Marcus J Batts of Urbana.
Batts was transported to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building and booked on several charges including Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Obstructing/Resisting a Police Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and for being Wanted on a Warrant.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent
until proven guilty in a court of law.
