WESTVILLE — Local police officers and residents know that once 2 a.m. hits on Saturday and Sunday mornings, a line of headlights starts heading from the closed bars in Danville toward the 3 a.m. last call in Westville.
That will change if the village board approves a proposal to reduce Westville’s bar hours to match Danville’s.
At present, the village’s code for hours of operation for those holding liquor licenses says “No person shall sell or offer for sale at retail any alcoholic liquor in this village between the hours of 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. each and every day; except that on Sundays the closing hours shall be 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.”
Two of Westville’s mayoral hopefuls spoke at a candidate forum earlier this week about the possibility of changing bar hours.
