THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY, ILLINOIS RELEASE
As Vermilion County, IL approaches its 200th anniversary, the Vermilion County Museum and a dedicated team of volunteers are planning a celebration to honor the county’s rich history and unique communities. A key component of this milestone will be a county-wide calendar highlighting parades, festivals, annual community celebrations, and other special events taking place between November 2025 and December 2026.
Local organizations and event planners are invited to submit their upcoming events for inclusion in the anniversary calendar. In addition to promoting these events, the
anniversary team hopes to attend and participate in as many celebrations as possible throughout the county.
“We want to ensure that all of Vermilion County’s communities are represented in this historic celebration,” says Sue Richter, 200th Anniversary Co-Chair. “This is an opportunity to showcase the traditions, culture, and community spirit that make our county so special.”
Richter and Todd Lee are co-chairing the anniversary celebration.
To have an event featured in the official 200th-anniversary calendar, organizers should submit event details—including name, date, time, location, and a brief description—via email to lisa@whitesmith.us by June 1, 2025. Organizations are also encouraged to share this invitation with others who may have relevant events.
