Republican State Senator Chapin Rose says the continued bipartisan support for legislation that would stop carbon capture sequestration from happening at the Mahomet Aquifer will hopefully pay off. Senator Rose says the way the governor said that there’s no danger here, and WHEN he said it, is quite ironic.
AUDIO: And then, of course, he said that as he’s signing the bill to do it, at the ADM Sequestration Center in Decatur; which it turns out, was actually leaking at the time they had the press conference signing the bill. I mean, it’s just crazy. It’s not safe, and we don’t need to take that risk with the water supply for a million people in Illinois.
Meanwhile, Senator Rose says something happening in Washington, affecting the amount of immigrants crossing the boarder, is helping Illinois taxpayers; by allowing them to pay less money for the free health care, food, and housing committed to the immigrants by Governor Pritzker.
AUDIO: President Trump, cutting illegal border crossings by 92%, in the first three weeks of his presidency; I would like to think this will have a positive impact for the state taxpayer, in lowering claims on those programs of Governor Pritzker.
And on the topic of Governor Pritzker, Senator Rose says he cannot be sure whether or not Pritzker will go ahead and run for governor in 2026. But Rose says he’s absolutely sure what the governor will do in 2028.
AUDIO: The only thing I know is he’s running for president. Okay, that much is clear. I mean, the guy’s been all over. He been in New Hampshire, he’s been to Arizona. He’s been to all these; playing in Ohio, playing in Wisconsin.
And Senator Rose says he sees a major battle in Springfield over the new budget, keyed by disagreements on “what is a logical estimate of incoming revenues?”
