April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month; and this Saturday morning, April 5th, will be the annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event. Survivor Resource Center Special Events Marketing Coordinator Lea Meister recently joined Tommy B on D102’s “The Big Show.” She said the efforts to teach the truth about sexual assault continue constantly through events like this, and in other ways.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: This event is just a great awareness event to talk about sexual violence; and talk about ways that we can prevent it, and listen to some stories of some survivors. And some of our awareness events here that we’re talking about is getting out in the community, and letting people understand kind of what it is. But we also have a great program where we have curriculum to go into the schools; and teach the kids, that are right now present in the day; learning how you can prevent sexual assault, and what it is.
Saturday’s event is in Downtown Danville at Temple Plaza. Registration starts at 9 AM; program begins at 10 AM. To hear all of Tommy B’s interview with Lea Meister, please go to https://vermilioncountyfirst.com/big-show-bites-podcast/
