OAKWOOD — The weather doesn’t look ideal, but Kickapoo State Recreation Area is welcoming back those who love to be in nature for some firsts of the year.
Brandon Damm with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources said there a few changes in store this year.
“Kickapoo Bar and Grill will be offering breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.,” he said, and “staff are completing the installation of new block privies (outhouses) around the park.
“We would also like to remind people that mushroom hunting is closed in the hunting areas until 1 p.m. during the spring turkey season, which ends May 16,” he added.
Kickapoo Bar and Grill and Kickapoo Adventures concessions opens Saturday, April 5.
