Vermilion County Museum Director Sue Richter says activities will be taking place in the Museum Center which is the newer building at the museum along North Gilbert Street….

Then in the afternoon they’re going to present two special programs that are going to give people information about two different aspects of railroading here in Vermilion County.”}
Richter suggests visitors arrive early Saturday (April 12, 2025) for some of the activities….
Audio Player{Audio: “People can come in the morning. They will actually have some vendors – some individuals that collect railroad memorabilia and things of that sort – that will be selling items. There are also some of the guys have special displays of certain types of railroad items that they collect, and they’ll have those on display.”}
This is the first time the C & EI Historical Society has allowed the public to attend activities at their annual meeting. There is no admission fee at the museum for Saturday’s special event. The original Vermilion County Museum, located in the Fithian Home at 116 North Gilbert Street in Danville, will be closed during Saturday’s C & EI event.
The Museum Center will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The afternoon programs include one entitled ‘Passenger Trains on the C&EI, starting at 1:45 p.m., and a program on the ‘Oaklawn Shops’ in Danville, starting at 3:00 p.m.
