Carle’s Mobile Health Clinic already has been bringing medical services to families in neighborhoods across Vermilion County in a 40-foot customized bus.
Now Carle has a new 33-foot bus serving as a Mobile Market to travel around the county providing access to more fresh and nutritious foods.
Both are accessible too to wheelchairs.
A grant to the Vermilion County Community Health Collaborative through the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services provided for the Mobile Market vehicle purchase, build out, operations and food for the market.
Last week, the Mobile Market was parked along Route 1 at the Westville American Legion.
It was stocked with fresh and nutritious produce, including three for $1 apples, $4 for a bundle of asparagus, four for $1.25 bananas, $1 each for peppers and avocadoes, collard greens for $1 a bundle and fingerling potatoes, 10 for $1.50.
