Danville – Recent discussions by United Parcel Service (UPS) proposing ceasing operations in Tilton has raised serious concern among local leaders, residents, and business owners. The proposed closure, which was discussed without public input, would have a significant impact on the local economy, employment, and essential services in the area.
Mike Marron, CEO/President of Vermilion Advantage, articulated that “UPS has played an essential role in Tilton-not just as a delivery service, but as a trusted partner. Their presence has helped connect our residents to the world and supported countless small businesses in growing and thriving. This is why we are urging an open conversation about the company’s future in our community.”
In response, a formal letter has been drafted and signed by over 30 local businesses, highlighting the essential role that UPS plays in daily operations and calling on the company to reconsider or work with the community on solutions. UPS has been instrumental in providing not only reliable shipping solutions but also employment opportunities and a sense of logistical connection that many in the rural areas often lack. The potential of losing this key infrastructure will create real challenges for families and many businesses that rely on shipments.
“We are not here to point fingers-we are here to say thank you, and to ask, what can we do together to keep this relationship strong?” Marron said. “Our doors are open to UPS leadership and our community is ready to work on creative solutions.”
