DANVILLE — Newly elected Danville District 118 School Board Member Toni Towne has filed a court petition requesting a temporary restraining order against the school district’s board of education from disbursing and acting upon the terms of the former superintendent’s separation settlement agreement pending further proceedings.
Towne filed the petition Wednesday, a week after the school board approved the settlement agreement and against the advice of attorneys, of an undisclosed amount with Geddis. The agreement was then to be signed by all parties.
A court hearing is to take place Friday morning.
Towne says in the court petition, “On or about April 9, 2025, the Board of Education approved a settlement agreement related to the termination/resignation of Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis proposing a payment of an undisclosed dollar amount possibly as high as $2 million dollars in public funds.”
