Multiple organizations in and around the Georgetown area are coming together this Saturday, April 26th; for what is being billed as “A Tribute Long Overdue, Honoring Our Vietnam Veterans.” Chris Jarvis from the Georgetown – Ridge Farm Men’s Club says once this was mentioned a few months ago; organizations including but not limited to American Legion Post 203, and Post 203 Auxiliary, Mission K9 Warrior; and many more, came together to make this coming Saturday happen.
Jarvis says the parade that will begin at 2 PM will follow a familiar route.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We’re starting at the Georgetown Fair Grounds at 2 o’clock. And then we’re going through town. It’s actually the Homecoming Parade route as well as the Christmas route that they have. And we will end up at the Georgetown High School, at the football field; and then we will have our ceremony at 3:30.
Jarvis said that ceremony at the Georgetown – Ridge Farm High School football field will be for Vietnam Veterans still with us, along with those to be remembered.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We’ve got 200 that signed up. And it’s a combination of Vietnam Veterans that are still alive, and family members of the Vietnam Veterans that have since passed away since they came home from the war. And as far as I know, and as far as everybody else is aware; everybody that’s signed up, the family members, everybody; they’re all expected to be there.
Once again, it’s “A Tribute Long Overdue, Honoring our Vietnam Veterans, this Saturday in Georgetown; with the parade at 2 PM, and the ceremony at 3:30.
