THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE – Danville Area Community College is pleased to announce the election of Cole Crawley as the new Student Trustee to the Board of Trustees. Crawley, a senior at Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School (BHRS), was elected by his peers in a campus-wide student vote held earlier this month. His term as Student Trustee runs April 15, 2025 through April 14, 2026, but won’t officially commence until he takes the oath of office at Thursday night’s Board of Trustees meeting.
The Student Trustee serves as an advisor non-binding voting member of the Board and represents the student voice in matters affecting DACC students. Cole is currently taking dual enrollment courses at DACC and will officially graduate from high school on Saturday, May 18. He plans to complete his associate degree in elementary education at DACC by the spring of 2026.
Crawley says he chose to attend DACC because it’s close to home and significantly more affordable than a four-year university. His goal as Student Trustee is to strengthen communication between students and the Board while advocating for student success and well-being.
“I wanted to represent student voices and ensure their needs and concerns are heard at the highest level,” he said.
Cole brings leadership experience to the role, having served as a class officer for three years in high school. He has taken six dual credit courses through DACC and names Branding for Athletes, which he took in Spring 2024, as his favorite class for its fun, engaging format and real-world application.
The DACC Board of Trustees is comprised of seven elected members who serve staggered six-year terms and one student trustee who serves a one-year term. The student trustee must be a full-time DACC student and is elected each spring.
