THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville Police Detectives have arrested and booked 44-year-old Shane A. May of Danville on charges of 1st Degree Murder. May was arrested approximately 8 hours after officers initially received a call about a deceased person in a residence in the 700 block of Sherman St.
After an investigation of evidence with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, and several community members, probable cause was developed to arrest May for the murder of Monty Peplow. Peplow’s body was found on April 7th.
May will be held in the Vermilion County Public Safety Building awaiting a hearing on his charges.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
