THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Saturday, 4/19/2025, around 4:30 p.m., members of the Danville Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit observed a subject in the area of Butler St. and E. Williams Street.
The subject was known to officers as 24-year-old Richard B. Sanford-Beasley, who lists a home address in Danville. The P.O.P. officers had information that Sanford-Beasley was wanted on a warrant out of the State of Texas.
The officers, one of whom was a K9 handler, attempted to approach Sanford-Beasley, who immediately ran. During a short foot pursuit, officers witnessed Sanford-Beasley drop a firearm that was later found to be loaded. Sanford-Beasley was eventually apprehended and placed into custody with some assistance from the DPD K9.
Officers transported Sanford-Beasley to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building, where he was booked on charges of being Wanted on a Warrant, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects arrested are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
