Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
May 6: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
May 7: Crafternoon. Learn how to create your own personalized Book Bouquet! Select 2 complimentary books from our Starbooks Used Bookstore, then learn the easy steps to finish your beautiful bouquet. Space is limited, first come, first serve – while supplies last! 2:00 – 3:30 PM in our Program Room.
May 7: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the YA area.
May 7: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
May 8: Pop Culture Trivia. This month: Disney! Test your knowledge of all things Disney, from classic films to beloved characters and enchanting songs. Gather your friends, compete for fun prizes, and enjoy snacks provided by special guests, Spotlight Performing Arts. All ages! 5:00 – 6:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
May 9: Synergy Seminar Series. Join us and special guests, Synergy HomeCare, for an enlightening Seminar Series designed for older adults, focusing on enhancing well-being, understanding aging, and navigating health challenges. This month, Amy Thompson from Liberty Village presents: Fall Prevention and Healthy Aging. 11 AM – 12 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
May 10: Calming Cow Diamond Painting Event. Get creative and relax with us as we make Highland Cow Keychains. This fun and calming activity is perfect for tweens, teens, and adults. *Limited crafts available. First come, first serve. 2:00 – 3:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
May 10: Cuddle a Cow. Join us for a heartwarming and unique experience during Mental Health Awareness Month! Cuddle a Cow is an event designed to promote mental well-being through the therapeutic benefits of animal interaction. Come and spend time with Mud Run Meadow’s gentle and friendly cows, known for their calming presence and ability to reduce stress and anxiety. 12 pm to 1:30 pm on the Library Lawn
May 10: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. A unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Department.
May 10. Tiny Canvas: Do It Together! Join us for Tiny Canvas Club: Do It Together – Family Edition! In celebration of Mother’s Day, we’re hosting a special Do It Together event for 15 families! Come enjoy a wonderful, free family day creating art together guided by talented local artist, Katie Weston!
