DANVILLE — Despite concerns voiced by a Danville Area Community College employee at last week’s board meeting, the board is moving ahead with contract negotiations for its interim president to become permanent.
DACC Board Chairman Greg Wolfe said the plan is to have the board vote at its May 22 meeting on a permanent contract for current Interim President Randy Fletcher.
“We just started the negotiation process. Our hope is to do a multi-year (contract),” Wolfe said.
DACC Rhetoric Professor Stefanie Davis voiced concerns — she said from others, too — about the board not posting the president position and seeking candidates.
Davis also pointed out Wolfe’s friendship with Fletcher and Fletcher’s job opportunity coming about from that history.
She said Fletcher didn’t have to apply or compete for the role of DACC’s new president, in which no one else was allowed to apply.
