THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
The Danville Police Department is requesting help from the community. On Monday evening, 4/28/25, around 9:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Moore Street due to a 911 call of a subject being shot. Officers were in the area and heard approximately 20 shots being fired before the 911 call.
Officers were able to locate the victim within seconds. Upon arrival, they found a 75-year-old female who had been shot while she was in the bedroom of her residence. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she is listed as stable with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers found several high-caliber ammunition casings at the scene.
There are currently no leads, and the Danville Police Department has no suspects in the shooting of the elderly subject who was simply getting ready for bed in her own house. DPD is fortunate to serve in a community that supports each other and its police department. Detectives hope someone saw something or knows something and is willing to contact either the department or Vermilion County Crimestoppers.
