Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr swore in five new probationary police officers for the Danville Police Department, during a Wednesday morning (April 30th) ceremony in the Danville City Council Chambers.
With family, friends, and Danville Officers in attendance; Aaliyah Denius and Phillip Howie III shake hand with Mayor Williams after they are sworn in.
Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates says the five probationary officers were chosen from an initial pool of 27 interested parties.

Chief Yates continues to aim for a total of 70 officers on the Danville force. He says if all five of the newly sworn in complete their training, Danville will be up to 69 officers.
