On Wednesday, May 14th; the Vermilion County Health Department conference room will be the location for a free all day Mental Health First Aid training session for those dealing with youth. This is a combined effort by the Vermilion County Mental Health 708 Board, and Gibson Area Hospital and Medical Center.
708 Board representative and class co-instructor Jim Russell reminds us that mental health first aid training focused on those dealing with youth can help anyone from medical professionals to teachers; to first responders, parents, and grandparents. Russell says the training covers both how to intervene early in a situation, as well as when it gets more serious.

There will also be a mental health first aid session one week after that; on Wednesday, May 21st; for dealing with adults. Similar sessions on both topics will be held every month throughout the year, all fully funded by the county and Gibson Area Hospital. All begin at 8:30 AM and run through the day.
If interested in any upcoming session, contact co-instructor Beth Knecht at 217-516-2298.
