THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
ADDITIONAL CHARGES: Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Resisting a Peace Officer
On Tuesday morning, 4/29/25, just after midnight, Danville Police Officers stopped a subject around Bowman Ave and Meadow Street who was underage and out past curfew walking on the street. The subject was positively identified as a 17-year-old juvenile
Officers questioned the juvenile and noticed what they believed could be a firearm on their person. The juvenile then ran and fled from the officers. After a foot pursuit, the juvenile was placed in custody, and a loaded firearm was recovered in the subject’s vicinity.
The 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building, where they were booked on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Possessing a Handgun Under the Age of 21, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Resisting a Peace Officer.
The juvenile was then taken to the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center to be held for a hearing.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
