Just prior to the noon hour on a beautiful late Friday (May 9th) morning, city–hired contractor Homrich; out of Carleton, Michigan; was taking a crane to the outside of Bresee Tower; tearing down the fire escape. Numerous spectators and city personnel were scattered from Vermilion Street to the city hall parking lot, including Danville Director of Public Works Dave Ruwe.
AUDIO: Full speed ahead; so right now they’re taking the fire escape off. They told us they’d do that first, and then they’ll start on the actual structure itself; kind of getting the facade and everything on the north side of the building.
Also there was Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk. He knows this is a big production; but at the same time, there’s all the regular work to be done.
AUDIO: We’re down here because it’s a Friday and it’s sunny; but we still have a city to run and a city to support. So; to kind of put this in the background and continue business as usual.
