It’s once again time for the Corvette Cruisers of Illinois to put on their Car Show for Veterans at VA Illiana Health Care. Registration begins at 9:30 AM this Saturday, May 17th, in LOT J of the VA Illiana Health Care campus. Corvette Cruisers of Illinois president Don Huskisson reminds us it’s a free show, with donations welcome to help our Veterans. He gave some examples of where the donations go.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: We go out and get a list of what the Veterans need. Bathing stuff, clothes, toiletries stuff; and we do a summer buy. And then we also do a winter buy for like sweaters, coats, gloves and hats; and other stuff that they need. And then we also provide a Christmas party for the Veterans’ children that are homeless.
As always, if you want to display your car in the show, no pre-registration is necessary. Just show up at 9:30 Saturday morning to register and park your car. Live music will be provided by Logan Kirby; and there will be all kinds of categories when the awards are announced at 2 PM.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: First off we have the TOP TEN awards for the car show. Then we have a QUEEN’S CHOICE, we have a VETERANS CHOICE, and a CLUB CHOICE; and then a BEST OF SHOW. When you register, you’ll have a ballot. And they’ll be people walking about giving out ballots if somebody should happen to need one. But there should be one in the registration packets, at the registration table.
Huskisson says if you’re not sure where LOT J is out at VA Illiana Health Care; just follow the signs, and you’ll get to the show. A Lunch with the Veterans of hot dogs, chips, cookies, and water will be provided.
