All day Wednesday, May 14th; it was time once again for that special effort created 12 years ago by Sunset Funeral Home’s Rich Darby. He noticed an American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard, honoring the deceased on a very hot August day; but with hand-me-down uniforms that did not match. With that single realization, Operation Honor Guard was born.
Wednesday morning at Hall of Fame Plaques and Signs, Rich’s son Ross Darby reflected upon the movement’s major step to take the cause nationwide.
AUDIO: It shows that you’ve put in the hard work, with the right cause fighting behind it. Nothing’s going to stop us at that point. (There’s people all over the country realizing this is a good cause.) Yep, we’re just now finally able to get that message a lot farther out there than we did before. And now we’re just trying to take advantage, and really help these Veterans out who deserve it.
