The Danville Police Department put in a bit of a new twist during the Friday (May 16th) morning statewide COP ON A ROOFTOP promotion at Dunkin Donuts. Instead of sitting on top of the actual building, Danville Police had officers on top of their special rescue vehicle; as Sergeant Jason Jeffries explains.

And of course, donations to the Law Enforcement Torch Run, for the support of the Special Olympics; is always the objective on this statewide day.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: Law enforcement does it every year. They get involved with the Special Olympics teams. And then usually at the state championships they present the checks for the donations to the Special Olympics program. And then they get involved with handing out the awards, and things like that, during the competitions
Friday’s total number of COP ON A ROOFTOP locations around Illinois was 375, with a fundraising goal of $1.25 million.
