It’s not officially summer yet but weekends are already getting busy around our area. Plus, there are some special events occurring around Vermilion County this weekend.
Saturday is Armed Forces Day and the Vermilion County War Museum is marking the day with an open house. The public is invited to view the displays at the museum between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. free of charge. The War Museum is located at 307 North Vermilion in downtown Danville.
The Danville Area United Way is hosting ‘United We Cook’ at the David S. Palmer Arena on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The event runs from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. featuring dishes created by several area volunteer chefs. The culinary event helps raise funds for the United Way of Danville Area. General admission tickets are $50 each.
The Fischer Theatre hosts ‘Solitary Man – A Tribute to Neil Diamond’ on Saturday night. Doors open at 6:30 with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
University of Illinois Master Gardeners are holding their annual plant sale on Saturday, (May 17, 2025) at First Presbyterian Church in Danville. Master Gardeners will be selling a variety of plants to the public; including vegetables, annuals, perennials, and house plants.
And the Danville farmers market begins their season Saturday (May 17, 2025) in the 2700 block of North Vermilion Street (near Planet Fitness). Hours are 8:00 AM until Noon. The farmers markets will also be held on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
