Efforts to revive a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post for Vermilion County are advancing. Over a dozen area veterans attended an organizational meeting for VFW Post 3510 on Tuesday (May 20, 2025).
The meeting was held at the Danville Public Library as the search continues for a new permanent home for the post.
Those in attendance were told Articles of Incorporation for VFW Post 3510 have already been filed at the state and national levels. 
State Representative Brandun Schweizer of Danville will serve as Commander of Post 3510.
Danville had a Veterans of Foreign Wars post for many years, but it was dissolved in 2001. Those attending Tuesday’s meeting heard steps which must be followed to win state and national approval for Danville’s new VFW post. And three of the veterans in attendance paid their dues so they could be among the first new members of the new VFW post.
