THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville Police Officers conducted an investigation on Saturday evening, 5/24/25, around 4:30 p.m., from information they obtained involving subjects with firearms. The lead they obtained directed officers to an apartment in the 1600 block of Edgewood in “The Grove” apartment complex.
Officers made contact with several subjects in the apartment, which led to further investigation. With the assistance of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, Danville Police Officers were able to obtain a Vermilion County search warrant for the same apartment. DPD officers located three illegal firearms during the investigation.
20-year-old Roderick D Otis of Danville and a 17-year-old juvenile from Danville were both arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building and booked at the Vermilion County jail on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, being under the age of 21.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
