Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr spoke with CIMG on Friday about his memories of Danville Alderman and Former Vice-Mayor Bob Iverson, who passed away in Peoria on Thursday, May 22nd.
Williams says that after he returned to Danville, he was interviewed by Iverson concerning Boys and Girls Club and Project Success positions. Then, after both were on the City Council, the two became friends.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: The thing I appreciated about Bob the most, though, was that he was a man who you could reason with; and who wanted to get an understanding. He was an incredibly rational person, an incredibly kind person; and he was someone who did everything that he could for anybody. He was someone who was always willing to help. He was a person that I counted on for advice, especially in tough situations; and he was a dear friend who is going to be sorely missed.
Bob Iverson was a former news director at WDAN-D102, and was serving as WITY’s news director at the time of his passing.
The visitation for Bob Iverson is Thursday, May 29th; 5 to 7 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville; and A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 30th at First Presbyterian Church, 100 North Franklin Street in Danville.
