A stop by the Bresee Tower tear down this past Friday afternoon showed that contractor Homrich had made a significant dent in the entire northwest corner of the building, going along with all the enlarging holes on the tower’s north side. According to some witnesses standing around watching, much of Friday’s tear down work seemed to be on the Bresee Tower elevator shaft.
And speaking of witnesses, a group of ladies in their lawn chairs were once again lined up on the sidewalk across Vermilion Street taking it all in. As their orange shirts they were all wearing stated, they call themselves the “Bresee Babes.”

Charlotte Robbins says it all got started when she was in the Towne Center parking lot watching the teardown of the Vermilion County Court Annex Building.

And now they even have hard hats to wear, with their own decorating contest going on. Tina Mills, Deb Haton, Rayna Masulis, and Peggy Bloomfield complete the Bresee Babes. They say it’s sad to see it go, but they’re learning a lot just watching.
