THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY RELEASE
Event Coincides with Downtown Danville’s First Friday on June 6th
Danville, IL — The Danville Public Library invites community members of all ages to jump into summer fun with a Summer Reading Kickoff Event on Friday, June 6, from 5 to 8 PM, in partnership with Downtown Danville’s First Friday.
From 5 PM to 7 PM, kids, teens, and families can sign up for the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge and enjoy interactive games like “The Floor is Lava” and bouncy animal races. The festivities continue with local vendors as part of The Berry Cool Market, all set up on
library grounds.
At 7 PM, grab a blanket and settle in for a free indoor screening of the classic adventure film Jumanji.
“This event is one of our favorite ways to kick off summer,” said Jennifer Hess, Executive Director of the Danville Public Library. “It brings the whole community together and gets everyone excited about reading and connecting.”
“We’ve created something for all ages—whether you’re here for the games, the market, or the movie, we want you to feel part of the magic that reading can bring,” added Brittney Ziegler, Children’s Department Coordinator.
Brooke Truscelli, Community Engagement Coordinator, shared, “Our goal is to make summer reading an experience—not just a program. This event is the perfect way to launch a season of adventure, learning, and fun.”
The event is free to attend and open to the public. No registration is required.
Don’t miss the kickoff to a summer full of stories, imagination, and community fun—June 6th at the Danville Public Library.
