Efforts continue to attract new members to a revived Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Vermilion County. Matt Long, Senior Vice Commander of VFW Post 3510, says the goal is to have at least one-hundred members by the end of this year. He says any eligible veteran is invited to the next Post 3510 meeting beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th, at the Danville Public Library.
Long says that in addition to seeking members, other goals include getting a building and donations. Long notes with sufficient members and donations the Post could reach out to help other area veterans.
State Representative Brandun Schweizer was earlier selected to serve as commander of Post 3510. He earlier served in the Marines.
There had not been an active Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Vermilion County since Post 728 disbanded earlier. It had been unable to attract sufficient members to keep Post 728 operating.
