THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
People v. Dylan Williams 2024-CF-191
On May 15, 2025, Dylan Williams (DOB: 1/26/1995), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty to Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, a class X felony. Williams was sentenced to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by a term of 18 months mandatory supervised release. The plea and sentencing were presided over by Judge Karen Wall.
The People presented evidence that on March 26, 2024 after 8:00 P.M., Vermilion County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched in regards to a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop that began in Montgomery County, Indiana. The driver entered Illinois driving westbound on I-74. The driver, later identified as Dylan Williams, was seen throwing items from the vehicle. Williams eventually lost control of the car and came to a stop between mile markers 211 and 210. The defendant exited the driver’s seat upon command and a white powder-like substance fell from his lap. Upon their approach, police saw a residue suspected to be methamphetamine all down the front of the defendant’s clothing, shoes, on his hands and on the outside of the driver’s side of the vehicle. Upon search of the vehicle, officers located methamphetamine in the driver’s floorboard, the driver’s side door and the area of the center console, as well as other areas of the passenger side of the vehicle. Later, following his arrest, as the defendant exited the squad car officers located chunks of methamphetamine and the residue that fell off Williams’ person. Deputies located more than 55 grams of methamphetamine in total. Laboratory testing by the Illinois State Police Crime Lab confirmed that the substance was methamphetamine.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department for apprehending this defendant. She said, “This case highlights the serious threat posed by those who traffic dangerous drugs like methamphetamine through our communities. This defendant put innocent lives at risk by leading law enforcement on a chase across state lines. This sentence sends a clear message that drug dealers will be held accountable.”
