During a very brief special meeting Wednesday afternoon (June 4th), the Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees unanimously approved extending Dr. Randy Fletcher’s interim president contract; from June 30th to December 31st of this year.
When Dr. Fletcher was first approved as interim president after Dr. Nacco’s retirement and departure last year, the board had made clear their desire for Dr. Fletcher to become the permanent new president, pending an evaluation of his performance in the interim role.
Now, however, the board has posted the position within the last two weeks; and Board President Greg Wolfe, reading a statement for the media after Wednesday’s special meeting, stated what comes next.
Speaking to the Board of Trustees prior to Wednesday’s special meeting, DACC instructor Marcie Wright gives a positive endorsement of the job done so far by Interim President Dr. Randy Fletcher.

The board is committed to finding the best candidate to be the 8th president of Danville Area Community College.
Dr. Fletcher says that during his extended six month period as interim president, one thing he definitely wants to see completed is a new comprehensive plan for Danville Area Community College. And along with that, Dr. Fletcher wants an effort that allows the DACC administration and faculty to learn more about the DACC students.

A new strategic plan for Danville Area Community College would be its first in eight years.
