Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
June 16: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Looking for a way to share the magic of gardening with your family? Join our weekly gardening program! Every Monday during June and July at 9:30 am in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
June 16: More Than a Color: The Marginalization of African Beauty Through History. A thoughtful and passionate artist and speaker, Karen Anderson honors Black women by examining how beauty standards have devalued Black beauty over centuries. Karen’s desire is to share the history of women of African descent to help those impacted by racist standards feel less marginalized. Her presentation examines how women of African descent have been seen in society, art, history, and modern media, and shifts the narrative about beauty. 12 pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
June 17: Snack & Chat – Fourth Wing! Join us for a fiery discussion as we dive into Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros—perfectly paired with our Summer Reading Program’s Dragon Theme! Meet fellow readers, share your thoughts, and enjoy free snacks (while supplies last). Don’t miss this chance to connect, chat, and snack your way through an epic fantasy adventure! 5:00 – 6:00 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.

June 17: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Program Room.
June 18: Free Wednesday Movie. Families can enjoy a kid-friendly movie together, with free popcorn and a drink available while supplies last. It’s the perfect way to cool off and relax this summer! Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. in June and July.
June 18: Teen Writing Club. Join us every Wednesday for Teen Writing Club! Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts. 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm on the 2nd Floor.
June 18: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
June 19: Disney Karaoke with Spotlight Performing Arts. Join Spotlight Performing Arts fo a magical Disney Karaoke event at the Public Library’s Children’s Department! Sing along to your favorite Disney songs, meet cast members from the upcoming production Disney Dare to Dream, and get a sneak peek at the enchanting adventure coming to the stage. Fun for all ages and perfect for young Disney fans! 1pm-2pm in the Program Room. Ages 5-12
June 20: Bob O’Connor (Author Presentation). A talk about his newest book, Henry Ulke, “Unlikely Witness to President Lincoln’s Final Hours”. Ulke and his brother, originally from Transylvania, Prussia, were both present at the Petersen House where the president was taken after he was shot at Ford’s Theater. The story is intriguing as to why in the world were these two allowed into that room along with members of the U. S. House and Senate and Lincoln’s family. 2 pm – 3 pm in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
June 21: Sensory and Bilingual Story Adventures. Join us for Sensorial & Bilingüe Aventuras de cuentos, a unique programming experience combining bilingual storytelling with sensory-friendly activities, designed to engage children of all abilities. This inclusive program creates a welcoming space where stories come to life through interactive elements, fostering language development and sensory exploration in a fun and supportive environment. Saturdays at 11 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for June’s Grow Your Own Daisies take-and-make crafts! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
