DANVILLE — Danville AMBUCS member Lori Lyons said one of the things she thinks sets them apart from other service organizations in the area is, “I feel that AMBUCS are doers.”
“Wherever you go, we’re not just raising money, and then you’re like, ‘Well, what did you spend all that money on?’ They come to the Friday Nights (concerts), and they come to the raffle, and they say, ‘oh yeah,’ because we see Summer Camp, and we see Challenger Baseball, and we see the playgrounds, we see the kids on the AmTrykes,” Lyons said.
“So, I feel like the Danville AMBUCS, I like to call us doers. We get out there, and you see us doing the things, you see us in our shirts providing the money that we’ve raised and giving it back to the community with the things that we do for the kids and the veterans and individuals with disabilities.”
Danville AMBUCS President Diane Carlton said they are the third-oldest existing chapter in the U.S., and they are celebrating 100 years this summer.
