Lakeview Employee Receives Distinguished Service Award

Julie Burokas of Bismarck, IL, Honored

 

DANVILLE, IL (06/09/2025) Lakeview College of Nursing (LCN) recently honored an employee with its Distinguished Service Award. Julie Burokas of Bismarck, IL, received the award during the College’s spring commencement ceremony.

Burokas currently serves as the student accounts specialist/cashier at the College. She has been employed at LCN since 2019.

Lakeview’s Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize outstanding service or academic contributions that further the educational mission of the College, according to LCN President Sheila Mingee. “To receive this award, you must be nominated for performance and service within the college and community that consistently and substantially exceeds in quality, which would normally be expected of an individual,” said Mingee.

Specific criteria include the following:

  • Performance and service that have helped set superior standards and efficacy in relation to the mission of the College.
  • Performance and service that consistently and substantially contribute to the ability and willingness to work positively and effectively with others within the College and community.
  • Performance and service that demonstrates the individual’s commitment, genuineness, support, and empathy to the welfare of self, individuals, families, groups, and the community.
  • Performance and service that demonstrates honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility, and the ability to apply ethical standards in all areas of practice.

Lakeview College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. It is a single-purpose, private institution that has specialized in nursing education in the Danville, IL, area since 1894.
