Watseka, the seat of Iroquois County with a population of 4,700, is a vibrant travel hub with small-town amenities.
Located about 15 miles west of the Illinois-Indiana state line, it’s a heavily traveled through city for semitrailers and others on both Illinois 1 and U.S. 24.
Lennie Bertrand said he likes Watseka for a number of reasons. It has a great post office, with a fantastic postmaster, he said. There are wonderful parks, a nice pool and pavilions.
He said a lot of people walk around and enjoy the small-town setting.
“The restaurants are good,” he said. “It’s just an overall safe town.”
