Contractor Homrich continues to chip away at Bresee Tower from the north end. It’s still tall, but it is certainly not as long as it used to be north to south.
On Tuesday morning, with spray mist from Homrich’s work in the air, Peggy and Brenda from the “Bresee Babes” group that’s been following the tear down project were joined by Mark Miles. He told us that it’s tough to see a building with so much history go down. But on the other hand, he thinks Homrich is doing an amazing job.

Audio PlayerAUDIO: Oh, it’s a shame. I mean it still looks like a great building. It’s a shame to see architecture like this get torn down these days. To me, it looks like they know exactly what they’re doing. I mean, being in the military, and discipline; they look exactly like professionals all the way. I don’t even worry about safety right now. Because the way they particularly go at each floor is amazing.
Mark Miles is a Hoopeston native, who returned to the area after his military service, and now resides in Danville.
