Danville AMBUCS is celebrating their 100 year anniversary this summer, and the big weekend (June 20th -22nd) included a day of Challenger Baseball at Danville Stadium, starting at 10 AM Saturday morning.
As Danville AMBUCS president Diane Carlton told us, several AMBUCS visitors from out of state were there to see numerous special baseball players from around the area.

Audio PlayerAUDIO: And we have people here from Oklahoma, Michigan, Illinois, Georgia; all over. And they’re celebrating with us here for our four Challenger games this morning at Danville Stadium. We pull from all of Vermilion County in Illinois, and we do have some that are from the other side of the border in Indiana. If we know that they’re close enough that they can get here to the games, we put them in our roster.
AMBUCS’ Lori Lyons, who handled the pitching for the games, said the spirit of the players on this hot day was amazing; and said she would keep on throwing.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: The stadium is a great place to play. We love to play here. They hit that ball and run those bases just like the major leaguers. I’m good, I’m good. It’s hot today, but we’ve got four games today. We’re two down, we’ve got two more to go.
Danville AMBUCS’ big weekend also included AMBUCS Friday Night at Turtle Run, and a Saturday night celebration at Big Thorn Farm & Brewery in Georgetown.
