THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY WATCHDOG RELEASE
Danville, IL – Vermilion County Watchdog is urging the public to come forward with any information related to the recent tragic shooting at Winter Park, where an innocent child lost their life and others were injured.
This is a call for action — if you know something, say something. The silence surrounding this act of violence is unacceptable, and the “snitch” mentality must end. When a child is murdered in our own community and people stay quiet out of fear of being labeled a “snitch,” we have lost our sense of right and wrong.
This toxic culture — especially among youth — that views cooperating with law enforcement as betrayal is leading too many down a dead-end path. If your children think sharing information with the police makes them a snitch, they are being groomed for prison, not for life as responsible citizens. That kind of mentality has no place in the life of anyone who wants a safe, peaceful future.
Law-abiding citizens have nothing to fear from doing what is right. Speaking up is not weakness — it is courage. It is how we protect our neighbors and how we ensure that those responsible for this heartbreaking violence are held accountable.
We urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to contact law enforcement immediately. Do not let silence protect those who bring danger and death to our community.
