As the teardown of Bresee Tower continues at Vermilion and Main, Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr is looking forward to two major steps: the building rubble being completely on the ground, and Main Street being reopened to through traffic. Mayor Williams says some kind of restricted through traffic just might be possible sometime next week.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: I believe that they’ll have it down by the end of this week or early next week. And our expectation is that we’ll be able to see Main Street reopen sometime next week. Maybe not a full reopening, but at least enough to get traffic hopefully going both ways.
But Mayor Williams says there have been no additional talks lately; as to what will be going in Bresee Tower’s place.
