DANVILLE — What a community leader said started as a break from the scorching heat — youths playing with water guns and water balloons at a park on the city’s north side — took a turn for the deadly over the weekend, claiming the life of a 2024 Danville High School graduate.
Aniyah J. Davis, 18, who is being remembered as a talented show choir performer who was “always helping those around her be the best versions of themselves,” was identified Monday by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office as the fatal victim of a shooting Saturday night at Danville’s Winter Park.
Two others were injured and police continue to search for a suspect following multiple shooting incidents “from at least two locations” in the Winter Park area late Saturday.
