THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On June 24, 2025 around 10:40 am, Danville Police responded to the area of Clyman Lane and Fowler Avenue (Fair Oaks Apartments) in reference to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers learned an argument had taken place between several individuals and during the argument a male subject had displayed a firearm and fired one shot into the air.
While investigating the incident, officers learned the suspect had fled the scene and entered a residence in the 900 block of Fowler Avenue. Officers made contact with the suspect, he ultimately agreed to exit the residence, and he was taken into custody. During a search of the residence, officers located a firearm that is believed to have been used during this incident. The suspect is identified as 34-year-old Antonio L. Chipman of Urbana, IL. Chipman is currently being held at the Vermilion County Jail on preliminary charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by convicted felon and an active arrest warrant out of Champaign County for escape from electronic monitoring.
No injuries were reported during this incident and no other information is being released at this time. Members of the public are reminded that a complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
