The Vermilion County Animal Shelter is moving forward with new leadership.
Kasey Snyder, who had been director for at least five years, is no longer leading the facility on Catlin-Tilton Road.
Vermilion County Board Chairman Steve Miller didn’t return phone calls about Snyder’s alleged firing but issued a press release Thursday morning.
“I am announcing the appointment of former Vermilion County Deputy Sheriff Ryan Goodner as interim director of the Department of Animal Regulations,” Miller stated.
“There are many difficult decisions that will be made regarding the finances of the department and the physical condition of the Tilton facility. The care of the animals coming to the shelter remains a paramount concern of the county. Contrary to anonymous rumors, no new policies or changes to policies, pertaining to euthanasia have been undertaken,” Miller continued.
