As predicted about one week ago by Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; Bresee Tower was indeed completely on the ground by the end of last week. Danville Director of Public Works David Ruwe says Homrich got it down right about on the schedule he thought they would have; but that they really picked it up down the stretch.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: I would definitely say it went about as expected, but I would say the last little bit came down a lot quicker than what we were thinking it would. So that was nice to see when we checked everything out Monday morning.
(2nd-3rd Picture) Looking south from Vermilion and North Streets, Bresee Tower no longer stands above everything else.
Ruwe says once enough clean-up is done to reopen Main Street, the major “load out” clean-up will begin.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: The load out is going to start here over the next week. So right now they’re actually working on cleaning Main Street up, so that we can get Main Street opened back up. And then they’ll start the load out process after that.
As of early Monday afternoon, Ruwe told CIMG they were hoping for a mid-week, Wednesday or Thursday, reopening of Main Street.
