Former Danville City Council candidate Barry Johnson was sworn in to an alderman position during Tuesday’s (July 1st) Council meeting, replacing the Late Bob Iverson in District 7. Johnson, sworn in by Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; said after the meeting that it was a special honor.

In other proceedings early in Tuesday night’s City Council meeting; Marilyn Blanton, Sandy Calhoun, and Bill Pickett were reappointed to the Historic Preservation Commission. Pete Goodwin and Troy Savalick were reappointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Kim Spangler was reappointed to the Vermilion County Emergency Telephone System 911 Board. Amie Pounds was appointed to replace Maruti Seth on the David S. Palmer Arena Board. And Rachel Haun was appointed FOIA Officer and OMA Designee for the City of Danville.
