THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On July 3, 2025 around 7:16 am, Danville Police received a report of a black in color Toyota Sequoia as being stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of E. Voorhees Street in Danville, IL. A short time later, around 7:38 am, a Vermilion County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the stolen vehicle in the area of the 200 block of E. Fairchild Street. The Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle at which time the driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit was initiated as the vehicle proceeded north bound on Bowman Avenue. The driver of the stolen vehicle disobeyed the red light at Bowman Avenue and Voorhees Street and proceeded through the intersection striking a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was traveling eastbound on Voorhees Street.
The driver of the stolen vehicle exited and began running northbound from the scene where the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Deputy and a responding Danville Police Officer took him into custody. The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Keon A. Underwood of Danville, IL. Underwood was transported from the scene to an area hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries he sustained because of the traffic crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer was evaluated by medical personnel for non-life threatening injuries and then released at the scene. No other injuries were reported during this incident.
Underwood will be booked at the Vermilion County Jail on preliminary charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, and aggravated fleeing and eluding as well as multiple traffic violations.
Members of the public are reminded that a complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
